Karen Furlo (McLaughlin)

McLaughlin, Karen Ann 12/9/1949 - 5/31/2017 Karen Ann McLaughlin ofSt. Louis, Michigan passed away on 5/31/2017 at Saginaw Covenant Hospital. Together with her husband Tim McLaughlin, they owned McLaughlin's Manufactured Homes, EJ's Transport, and KAM Leasing. Karen's true gift and passion was in the kitchen, her most favorite place to be. She carried on a family tradition of cooking authentic Italian food and baking the most mouthwatering desserts. Her countertop always had a delicacy waiting for everyone who came into her home. There are long lists of people who will miss her unannounced gifts of food and sweets, as she expressed her appreciation and friendship. Karen was a gift to everyone who knew her. She was an incredibly generous person, always putting others first. She asked for very little and gave freely of everything she had. She lived a life of integrity, quietly doing the right thing, even when no one was looking. Karen Ann (Furlo) McLaughlin was born in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Louis and Veronica (Smith) Furlo. She is survived by her husband Timothy McLaughlin; son Greg (Angie) Harrant; daughter Tania (Brian) Bengtsson; grandchildren Anna, Alex, Madeline, Mitchell, and Mia Harrant, and Reese, Sloan, and Vieve Bengtsson; nephews Ty Burris, Bret (Christine) Burris, Christopher Miller; niece Stephanie Miller; special friends Linda Kutsch and Carol Freed; sister Debbie Furlo; extended family and dear friends. Karen was forever impacted by the untimely death of son Brian Harrant; twin sister Sharon Burris; daughter Tamara McLaughlin; sister Amy Furlo; brother, Louis Furlo, Jr. Family and friends are invited to a memorial celebration on July 15, 2017 at Mount St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, Michigan. Gathering for remembrances will begin at 9am, an honorary mass will take place at 11am, and a luncheon in the parish social hall will immediately follow.
